Intellectual property information and process support, explained properly
The Notary Solution Limited helps individuals, creators and businesses understand how patents, copyright, trade marks and registered designs actually work — and prepares the documentation and administrative steps that sit behind an application, a registration or a transfer of ownership.
We explain the process before the paperwork. Every stage is set out in writing, every fee is confirmed before work begins, and every deadline is recorded so that nothing lapses quietly. We are an information and process support service, not a law firm, and we say so at every step.

What we do
Clear information, complete documentation and a process you can follow
Most people arrive with a question rather than a filing. They want to know whether an idea can be protected at all, who owns something they paid for, what a class number means, or why a renewal date matters. We start there, in ordinary language, and only move to paperwork once the position is understood.
From that point we work through the stages that follow: putting together the description and drawings a filing expects, checking the ownership details against your records, preparing the correspondence an office will ask for, and keeping a written record of what was filed, when, and what happens next.
- Patents, copyright, trade marks, registered designs and portfolio administration
- Written checklists setting out exactly what each stage needs from you
- Indicative fees confirmed by stage before any work begins
- Renewal, examination and response deadlines tracked and flagged in advance

How the work runs
Five stages, each confirmed before it starts
Nothing is filed and no official fee is incurred until you have approved the written scope for that stage.
Discovery conversation
A short call or written exchange to establish what you hold, what you are trying to protect and which deadlines are already running. No documents are needed for this stage, and no fee is charged for it.
Written scope and indicative fee
We set out in writing exactly what will be prepared, which stages are involved, what we need from you and the indicative fee for each stage. Work starts only once you have confirmed the scope in writing.
Document and information preparation
You receive a checklist of the documents, drawings, dates and ownership details required for your matter. We review what you send and tell you what is missing before anything is submitted.
Application and administration
Where an application, recordal or transfer is involved, we prepare the paperwork, explain the fee structure charged by the relevant office, and handle the administrative correspondence with you copied in throughout.
Status reporting and reminders
You receive a written status summary at the end of each stage. Where a registration, renewal or response deadline falls in the future, it is added to your record and a reminder is issued in advance.

How we work
Six things that stay the same on every matter
These are the working practices that apply whichever service you instruct us on.

Explanation before paperwork
Every stage is explained in ordinary language first, so you understand what is being filed, why it matters and what it costs before any document is prepared.

Checklists, not guesswork
You are given a written list of exactly what is needed for your matter, and we tell you what is missing rather than returning incomplete submissions.

One named point of contact
Enquiries, documents and updates go to the same address and are handled by the same team, so nothing is lost between stages or between people.

Fees agreed before work starts
Each stage carries an indicative fee that is confirmed in writing beforehand, together with the fees charged by the relevant office, which are passed on at cost.

Deadlines tracked in advance
Renewal dates, response windows and examination deadlines are recorded against your matter and flagged ahead of time rather than on the day they fall due.

Records that stay current
Ownership details, assignments and licence terms are kept in one register and reviewed periodically, so your position is clear when a question is asked.
Knowledge centre
Guides written for people new to intellectual property
General information on the questions we are asked most often. These guides are general information and not advice on your circumstances.

What the patent application process actually involves
The stages between an invention disclosure and a granted registration, the documents each stage expects, and where applicants most often lose time.

Who owns copyright when you commission work
Why ownership of a commissioned piece does not automatically pass to the paying party, and how a written assignment changes the position.

Choosing the right trade mark class
How the goods and services classes work, why an over-broad specification creates costs later, and how to read an availability result.
