Who we are
A small practice built around written process
The Notary Solution Limited supports individuals, creators and businesses with patent, copyright and intellectual property matters. Our work covers general intellectual property consultations, copyright guidance, patent-related documentation support, ownership and rights information, application preparation assistance, and guidance on the administrative procedures involved in protecting and managing intellectual property.
The business was set up because most of the difficulty in intellectual property sits in the administration rather than in the idea. A filing is refused because a drawing was missing, a class was described too narrowly, an assignment was never recorded, or a renewal date passed while everyone assumed someone else was watching it. Those are process problems, and process is what we handle.
- Information and process support for the full range of intellectual property rights
- Written scopes, checklists and stage reports for every matter
- A single point of contact from the first question to the final record
- A clear statement of what we do not do, so you know when legal advice is needed

What shapes the work
Three principles we do not move away from
They are the reason the process looks the way it does.
Explain first
Nobody should have to file documentation they do not understand. Every stage begins with an explanation in ordinary language, including what could go wrong and what it costs.
Say what we are not
We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. We will tell you plainly when your question needs a qualified legal professional, rather than answering outside our remit.
Keep the record accurate
Ownership details, filings, assignments and licence terms are kept in one register that is reviewed periodically, so the picture is current when a decision has to be made.
How we work with you
Written scope, written status, no surprises
Before a stage begins you receive a written scope that names what will be prepared, what we need from you, the indicative fee for that stage and any official fee that will be incurred. When the stage closes you receive a written status summary covering what was filed or recorded and what happens next.
Where a renewal, response or examination date falls in the future, it is added to your record and flagged ahead of the deadline. If the position changes — because an office raises a question or a timetable moves — you hear about it from us rather than discovering it later.
- Stage-by-stage scopes approved by you before any work begins
- A named point of contact for questions, documents and updates
- Written confirmation of everything filed on your behalf
- Advance reminders for every date that matters

Next step
Ask a question before you instruct anyone
A short description of your situation is usually enough for us to tell you which service applies and what the stages would involve.
